They are sometimes referred to as the 'caretakers' of a patient's sperm, eggs or embryos because they are the nurturers of this new start of life.

Often referred to as GPs or general medical officers, general practitioners diagnose and treat common maladies such as allergies, eczema, and high cholesterol. General practitioners may operate independently or in medical centers.

They use a variety of equipment and techniques to carry out investigations, which usually take place in a dedicated environment, but sometimes in other clinical settings, such as an operating theatre.

Gastroenterologists are medical practitioners who specialize in treating conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Diseases treated by gastroenterologists typically include colon polyps, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer disease, nutritional problems, colitis, hepatitis, and gallbladder disease.

Gynecologists are medical healthcare specialists that diagnose and treat gynecological conditions as well as advise patients on birth control and fertility matters. They may own private practices, or work in women's health clinics, hospitals, or charitable organizations.

Internists, also known as internal medicine physicians or doctors of internal medicine, employ non-surgical methods and procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions that affect their patients.

Prosthetists are responsible for designing or creating artificial devices or prostheses that closely resemble a patients’ missing body part such as a limb. You would closely examine the individual needs of every patient and help them attain their goals with customized and easy-to-use prosthesis. Prosthetists may work in both orthotics and prosthetics, or they may choose to specialize in one particular area.

Neurologists are medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

An obstetrician is a practicing doctor specializing in caring for women, right through pregnancy and during childbirth. Most obstetricians also practice as gynecologists, providing advice and prescriptions for any problems with a woman’s reproductive system.
